The Art Of Asking For More

On May 11th, negotiation and career development expert Jacqueline Twillie joined subscribers of #theAgenda to share her insight on properly leaning in to get what you’re worth.

For an hour, Jacqueline shared with the community tons of gems of wisdom that left everyone inspired, encouraged and motivated to ask for more, and do it unapologetically.

Here’s one piece of advice that resonated with many in #theAgenda:

“Be bold and proud! It’s about confidence, not arrogance.”

On lessons she has learned about advocating for herself:

“When you discount your value by saying oh that’s not a big deal, you give others permission to discount your value at work. By simply changing how you respond to compliments you increase your real and perceived value in the workplace without coming off as arrogant.”

On what women neglect to ask for during negotiation:

“Major things women neglect to ask for are resources that will set them up for success in the role. Throughout the interview process you should gain insight beyond the job description of what your scope of work will be. By asking specific questions about the role in the interview, you’ll be able to uncover what you will need to succeed in the role.”
