Artistic: Having or revealing natural creative skill. We use our artistic abilities to convey our story and showcase our uniqueness.
Vigilant: Mindful, Observant, Alert, #WOKE. We are mindful and attentive to the possible dangers or difficulties thrown at us.
Enough: Black women are enough.
The Georgetown University Women of Color (GUWOC) invite you to the second annual BRAVE Summit, recognizing the work and accomplishments of black women (the first in the nation) on March 25th, 2017.
Often times, black women are told that they need to be empowered when in fact, black women already have this power and don't need someone to give it to them. Black women just need the space to unleash it. That's also why 300+ black women and allies came together last year to celebrate the black woman. This year, GUWOC recognizing the fact that black women the most educated group, GUWOC recognizing the fact that black women's voices are being heard, and the summit is recognizing the work that is being done, the work that was done by the black women that led before us, and the work that future generations will do, with our help.
Therefore, this summit, titled BRAVE (Black. Resilient. Artistic. Vigilant. Enough.), will bring women leaders particularly in the DC area, and GUWOC structuring our summit in panels and break out sessions for students across the DC, Maryland, and Virginia areas, with invitation to select high school seniors.
