Data Transparency 2016 will be Washington's largest-ever open data event, bringing together government leaders, transparency advocates, and the technology industry to share the State of the Union of Open Data.
Data Transparency 2016 will feature three program tracks: Open Data in Management, Open Data in Regulation, and the first-ever White House Open Data Innovation Summit.
Open Data in Management will explore how standardized spending and performance data brings internal efficiencies and public transparency. The DATA Act requires every federal agency to begin reporting spending information as open data by May 2017.
Open Data in Regulation will explore the use of open data to modernize regulatory reporting. Australia and the Netherlands have both adopted open data formats across multiple agencies' reporting requirements, allowing companies to report simultaneously. Many U.S. regulators are working to transform document-based reports into open data - delivering transparency for investors, data-driven analytics for agencies, and cheaper compliance for the private sector.
The White House Open Data Innovation Summit will highlight the Obama Administration’s work in opening U.S. government data and discuss the path forward to continue this progress. The Summit will feature cutting-edge uses of open data to promote government efficiency and effectiveness, drive innovation, economic opportunity and improve the health and welfare of the American public. This event is cosponsored by the White House, the General Services Administration, the Small Business Association, and the Data Foundation.
Data Transparency 2016 is Socrata's fourth annual flagship open data policy conference. Through last year's Data Transparency 2015, the event was hosted by their sister organization, the Data Coalition.
Join Socrata on September 28th to help build the nationwide campaign to transform government information from disconnected documents into open data!
