Join us for an evening of networking, hors d'oeuvres, learning and insightful conversation. The research is clear - diverse boards have stronger bottom lines. Together we can implement actions, policies, and programs needed to promote gender equality on company boards. On this day across the country, thousands of C-Suite and senior-level executives will discuss the topic of how we can increase the visibility of the pipeline and how women can better prepare themselves and find director opportunities.
Speakers
Marge Magner
Ms. Magner is a founding member and Partner of Brysam Global Partners, a specialized private equity firm that invests in consumer financial services. Ms. Magner has over 30 years of operating and deal experience in the consumer financial services sector. Currently, Ms. Magner currently serves as Chairman of the Board of TEGNA, Lead Director of Accenture, and as a Director of Ally Financial Inc.
Prior to the formation of Brysam in 2006, Ms. Magner served as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Global Consumer Group at Citigroup. In this position, she was responsible for the company’s operations serving customers through retail banking, credit cards and consumer finance. Ms. Magner was named to the Fortune magazine list of Most Powerful Women in Business from 2001-2004, Forbes magazine list of World’s Most Powerful Women, and U.S. Banker’s list of the Most Powerful Women in Banking as well as U.S. Banker’s list of the Top 25 Non-Bank Most Powerful Women in Finance.
Ms. Magner is a passionate advocate on issues affecting women and youth globally. She champions issues such as education, global poverty and microfinance bringing a more integrated, innovate business approach to the philanthropic world.
Joann S. Lublin
Joann S. Lublin is the Pulitzer Prize-winning Management News Editor for The Wall Street Journal. She works with reporters in the U.S. and abroad to conceptualize and organize coverage of management and workplace issues. She covers issues such as corporate governance, executive compensation, recruiting and succession and writes stories on these topics, mainly for the Journal’s front page and Business & Finance section. She assumed her duties in December 2002.
Ms. Lublin is the author of a new book called "Earning it: Hard-Won Lessons from Trailblazing Women at the Top of the Business World.'' It describes leadership lessons from 52 high-level female corporate executives, based on career obstacles they overcame. Nearly two-thirds of the women interviewed are experienced public company CEOs.
Ms. Lublin long served as contributing editor of the Journal's annual special section on executive pay and still helps coordinate coverage of its yearly CEO pay survey. She previously oversaw the weekly Career Journal pages and was responsible for career coverage. Read her full bio here.
Susan Chapman-Hughes
Susan Chapman-Hughes is a Senior Vice President at American Express where she heads the US Large Market, Global Corporate Payments. She is responsible for leading and managing GCP’s U.S. and multinational client relationships representing $43 billion in annual charge volume. Her team focuses on delivering industry leading service and innovative payment solutions to over 4,000 large market clients. She currently serves as a board director for Potbelly Corporation.
Previously, Susan led Amex’s Global Real Estate and Workplace Enablement group supporting 62,000 employees across 41 countries. She led the creation of “BlueWork”, an industry leading, award winning, innovative workplace transformation initiative. Ms. Chapman-Hughes has received numerous awards for her achievements. In 2013, she was named to the Grio 100 list by Grio.com/NBC Universal and as one of the “100 Most Creative People in Business” by Fast Company.
In addition to her professional roles, Ms. Chapman-Hughes is committed to volunteer work for non-profit community development organizations across the United States and remains an active mentor to young people in her community. Her volunteer work includes serving on many boards including The National Trust for Historic Preservation, A Better Chance and Girls Inc.
Michele Heid
Michele Heid is a Senior Partner with the Philadelphia office of Heidrick & Struggles International. She is a core member of the CEO, Board of Directors and Financial Officers Practice. Michele led the North American Financial Officers Practice for eight years and the Global Financial Officers Practice for three years. Some of Michele's client companies include Cisco, Dell, Merck, Whirlpool, CIGNA, Stryker and Harsco.
Prior to her search career, Michele served as the Corporate Controller for Raytheon Company, a $25 billion multi-national electronics manufacturer based in Lexington, Massachusetts. Prior to Raytheon, Michele spent 20 years with Cummins Engine Company in a variety of financial and operations positions ranging from Vice President of Investor Relations & Strategic Planning to the CFO of a $600 million manufacturing operation. Michele has extensive experience with the Investment Community and has participated in debt and equity offerings in the United States, Europe and Asia.
Her interests include civic and professional associations including past positions with the Board of Advisors for Indiana University, the Vanderbilt Roundtable and the Indiana Council for the Arts. She previously co-chaired the Philadelphia Chapter of WomenCorporateDirectors (WCD).
Patti Domm, Moderator
Patti Domm is CNBC Markets Editor, responsible for news coverage of the markets and economy. She also writes a column for CNBC.com. Prior to joining CNBC in 1999 as a senior news editor, Domm was the equities editor for the Americas at Reuters. She was also Wall Street editor at Reuters, reporting on mergers, acquisitions and the Street. She edited three CNBC books on personal investing. Domm in a long time member of the Financial Women's Association of New York and has served on its board.
