This one-time, groundbreaking event will be held in honor of Women’s History Month to raise awareness about the challenges faced by young immigrant women in New York, and open a unique window into their fears, hopes, and dreams. This awareness-building event is meant to introduce New Yorkers to the struggles of young women immigrants, as well as to the inspirational lives they go on to lead.
This event is the result of the collaboration between New Women New Yorkers, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, photographer Sasha Nialla, and a group of 5 graduates of the LEAD Program, themselves young immigrant women living in New York City.
It will be held on March 24 at the Centre for Social Innovation, a beautiful warehouse space in the heart of Chelsea. The event has an expected attendance of up to 300 guests, including young professionals and artists, social entrepreneurs and business innovators, philanthropists, and many young women and immigrants.
This evening event will feature complimentary cocktails and wine, a DJ, and a selection of unique, powerful photographs of young women immigrants featured alongside their stories.
