Only 64 percent of women in the U.S. had a mammogram in the past 2 years. Only 31 percent of uninsured women received one, and, though routine screenings are not recommended for men, about 2,670 invasive male breast cancer diagnoses are expected during 2019. According to the CDC, 1 out of 8 U.S. women (about 12%) will develop invasive Breast Cancer over the course of her lifetime. It is estimated 268,600 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in 2019 alone. While African American women are not the leading race with diagnosed Breast Cancer incidents, they are leading in morality rates. 31% of women that die each year from Breast Cancer are African American. Annually, October marks Breast Cancer Awareness month and Dr. Dr. Jacque Colbert will host the inaugural Pink & Black Gala honoring breast cancer survivors around the Houston area, where 100% of proceeds will be donated to The Rose to cover mammograms for the insured and uninsured alike.
Dr. Jacque Colbert is celebrating survivors fabulously at Pink & Black – . The gala, in partnership with The Rose, will be held from 7-10pm October 19th at the Hotel Derek and will raise funds to cover the cost of mammograms (100% of the proceeds will be donated to the “The Rose”). The Sipping PositiviTEA owner and 11-year breast cancer survivor is a professor and corporate coach. After being diagnosed and battling extreme illness and treatment, however, she founded Sipping PositiviTEA, a lifestyle brand that encourages and helps women remain strong through organizational aides, affirmations, and positivity intake, including her line of herbal tea. She is keeping with the theme of positivity and strength by honoring women who have found their own way through their fight with breast cancer. Pink & Black – A Breast Cancer Fundraising Fashion Gala will be held 7-10pm Saturday, October 19, 2019 at Hotel Derek – 2525 W Loop S, Houston, TX 77027.
