In honor of February Fashion Week NYC, Chris Benedict, Co-Founder of Felix Gray eyewear (and former analyst and head of quantitative data for UBS) will talk to Byte students and a limited number of community members. He will discuss what its to like launch a start-up and his FashionTech company. The product uses medical technology (MedTech) to reduce blue light and therefore eye strain at the computer, while remaining chic. Eyestrain is a common ailment for coders' and other professionals' who spend a lot of time at the computer.
Although the glasses are only in soft launch, BA students will have had the chance to demo the product for 2 weeks. Mr. Benedict's visit will be at the end of the demo when he comes in to answer questions, talk about the eyewear's technology and discuss his background including the startup world and tips.
About Felix Gray: Do you stare at a computer all day? Of course you do, and that’s bad for your eyes, and your health. Felix Gray creates eyewear that mitigates the short and long term negative effects of staring at digital devices. Their specialized lenses filter the most harmful wavelength range of blue light, eliminate glare, and have an optional slight magnification. This means less eye strain, fewer headaches, better sleep.
Felix Gray was founded by David Roger, who worked at Tony Hsieh's Down Town Project through Venture for America and Chris Benedict, a former analyst and head of the quantitative data business for UBS Global Asset Management.
