More than ever, brands and filmmakers are looking to connect with their audiences through genuine online stories, inspiring them to learn more, take action, and share with their community. But while video remains king, content makers constantly battle short attention spans and a saturated landscape. So how do you stand out in the crowd? You’re about to find out.
This class offers a series of interactive workshops and guest speaker interviews that share practical tools, industry case studies, and visual examples to help tell your story successfully. Connect and get tangible advice from Executive Producer Sydney Levin (T Brand Studio, The New York Times,) Community Curator Ari Spool and Community Director Dani Newman of Giphy, and CEO & Creative Producer Jess Peterson of Mighty Oak.
Dani Newman is the Community Director at GIPHY and a founding member of GIPHY Arts. Her Art Direction for GIPHY was recognized as a 2016 Webby Winner. Prior to GIPHY, Dani worked at Tumblr where she oversaw hundreds of advertising campaigns. On the weekends, Dani also co-hosts an eclectic radio program inside of a shipping container.
Ari Spool is currently the community curator at GIPHY and the co-owner of the creative design studio EyeBodega. In the past, she was a founding curator of exhibitions at Babycastles, the first gallery devoted exclusively to showing video games. In addition, she has worked as an editor at Know Your Meme, Impose Magazine, ‘SUP Magazine, and as the content coordinator at the Stranger. She graduated summa cum laude from the New School in 2015. In 2012, she was a candidate for mayor of New York City.
Sydney Levin is currently the Executive Video Producer at T Brand Studio, where she leads a team that creates linear documentary-style videos as well as VR films. Previously, Sydney served as the head of homepage video at AOL.com. At AOL, she grew video consumption from 50,000 views a day to more than 10 million. She is an instructor at NYT Education: The School of The New York Times.
