This conversation is a deep dive into all the established names that have built a significant presence in NY and nationally over the past decade, as well as, new up and coming players in the space that are making real noise. Also, the conversations will touch on the difference in funding of RE Tech startups in NY (east coast) vs SF (west coast). Product Market Fit – who are the names that had it from Day 1 and it shows vs the the companies who were a hard sell initially but past all initial hurdles to start scaling. Lastly, what it takes today to be funded as a RE Tech platform.

About the Panelists:

Zach Aarons

Zach Aarons is a project manager at Millennium Partners, a leading real estate developer of large scale mixed use projects in America's key gateway cities.  He also serves as the CoFounder of MetaProp NYC, New York's real estate technology nexus.  Zach is the most active real estate technology investor in the United States, funding over 65 startups in the space.  Prior to joining Millennium and founding MetaProp NYC, Zach was a Senior Associate at ENIAC Ventures, a seed stage mobile technology fund and the founder of Travelgoat, an online and offline walking tour business.  He began his career as an analyst at boutique investment bank Peter J. Solomon Company.  Zach currently serves as Treasurer of the Board of Directors of The Lowline and on the Board of Trustees of The Tenement Museum.  He graduated Magna Cum Laude with an A.B. from Brown University and earned an MBA from Columbia Business School.

Claire Fauquier

Claire is a Senior Associate with Corigin Ventures. She is responsible for sourcing and analyzing deals, along with working with, and supporting portfolio companies. She began her career working in Investment Banking with Credit Suisse, both in their Toronto and New York offices. She did a stint working for the Nairobi-based growth private equity firm, Jacana Partners. Claire spent time working in the UK for the FinTech company Ebury, leading their M&A growth strategy efforts and working to prepare the company for a capital raise. Claire earned an MBA from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, and a Bachelor of Commerce from Dalhousie University in Halifax, Canada.

Brian Wilson

Brian Wilson is on the Investment Team at Tusk Ventures. Brian joined after spending four years at Blackstone, most recently in the Innovations group where he focused on business development and helping identify new strategic opportunities for Blackstone’s corporate venture capital portfolio. During this time, Brian advised clients on product development and oversaw the implementation and integration of portfolio company technologies into Blackstone’s internal systems and business groups. Prior to to joining the Innovations team, Brian worked in Blackstone’s Real Estate Debt Strategies group where he evaluated commercial lending opportunities across all major property types, led loan restructurings and dispositions, and created a comprehensive asset management platform to track investment performance. Prior to Blackstone, Brian worked in the Real Estate Banking Group at Wells Fargo where he originated commercial real estate loans to private developers and REITs headquartered in the Carolinas.

Keenan Williams
Co-Founder of REZI

Keenan Williams is the Co-Founder of REZI, an early stage marketplace lending platform currently developing automation technology to originate residential mortgages and lease-to-own contracts for non-conforming borrowers. REZI's goal in building an online mortgage bank is to directly fund credit-worthy borrowers turned down by banks for home loans. Previously Keenan led an Institutional Sales at Auction.com, as well as, various Real Estate Capital Markets positions at Torchlight Investors and CBRE.
