Led by Stephanie Bleyer, this 90-minute webinar will highlight effective practices for community outreach & engagement based on several action-oriented case studies. Artists of all disciplines will learn how to produce and fund effective engagement campaigns for artwork that contains social justice content. Topics covered include:


* Setting goals
* Creating the plan
* Effective partnering
* Finding your audience
* Measuring impact


To attend this webinar, you will need access to a computer with speakers and an Internet connection (hard-wired is preferred over wireless). There is no special software needed.


Webinars are recorded.  The recording will be shared with all previously registered participants after the webinar, regardless of whether participants attend the live workshop or not. Special one-time-only webinars, such as our Artists Talk Tech and Inside the Art World interviews, will also be available for purchase after the fact.

Through her firm, Six Foot Chipmunk, Stephanie Bleyer helps artists across disciplines create strategic plans, raise funds, and reach and mobilize new audiences. Previously, Stephanie lived in Sri Lanka managing tsunami displacement camps, and in Nairobi teaching street boys and working with refugees. In between her stints abroad she worked for a communications firm focusing on economic and environmental issues facing Alaska and American Natives.

Her career in social activism has taken many forms and started early. As a teenage journalist Stephanie received the National Ernest Hemingway Writing Award for uncovering her city’s bogus recycling program. Since then, she has studied organic farming in Italy, bicycled across Cuba on a grant to study sustainable energy, and created a documentary for Oxygen about her social action bicycle trip from Seattle to Washington D.C. She has produced a 30-city bus tour for the Eat Well Guide, an international conference for September 11th Families for Peaceful Tomorrows, and the opening of Mercy Corps’ Action Center to End World Hunger. Over the last five years, Stephanie has helped develop engagement campaigns for 20 documentary films. Her current clients include American Promise (Sundance 2013), God Loves Uganda (Sundance 2013), and Escape Fire (Sundance 2012).


Stephanie holds an MPA from NYU’s Wagner School of Public Service.
