Being in a career rut isn’t a pleasant experience; it’s exhausting, stressful, and draining. You spiral into a black hole of negative feelings and thoughts about your job, which makes matters worse. It can feel like the only way to get relief is to quit.

It doesn’t need to be that way though. You can stop the spiral and regain your professional spark with affirmations. How can short, positive statements make a difference? Research shows that mindset matters when it comes to our resilience during challenging times. Speaking from experience, it’s comforting and motivating to find the silver lining when you’re struggling. Once you have the silver lining, you start to see more positives, slowly shifting your thinking away from negativity.

As with anything, shifting your thinking will take some time. What’s most important is to find or create affirmations that resonate with you. Make it a daily habit to repeat them often, in whatever way you need. You can say them out loud, write them on Post-its and leave them in visible places, or record yourself so you can listen to them.

If you’re looking to overcome a rut in your professional lifef and reignite your passion for your job, here are ten affirmations that can get you started.
