A last-minute trip for Halloween is the perfect excuse to pack a bag, book that flight, and turn a regular holiday into a whole experience. From haunted attractions and spooky festivals to costume parties, ghost tours, and themed hotel experiences, there are plenty of ways to make your next trip a little more thrilling.

Whether you’re the friend who plans trips around festivals, the solo traveler always looking for something different, or the girl who simply loves an excuse to dress up and have a good time, these destinations deserve a spot on your radar. I’m talking fun experiences across the U.S, Caribbean, and Mexico.

Playa Mujeres, Mexico

Playa Mujeres brings a tropical twist to Halloween with beachside trick-or-treating, Kids Club festivities, themed celebrations, a costume contest, and live rock music at Secrets Playa Mujeres Golf & Spa Resort and Dreams Playa Mujeres Golf & Spa Resort. Dreams welcomes families, while Secrets offers an adults-only escape. Guests at both can also enjoy white-sand beaches, dining, and golf. Extend your stay beyond Halloween into the first week of November to enjoy the Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) celebrations, where locals honor ancestors and loved ones who have passed away.

Napa, California

Wine country welcomes four-legged Halloween fashionistas and pet lovers with the Meritage Resort and Spa’s first-ever Howl-O-Ween Yappy Hour, featuring a costume contest and dog-safe pumpkin treats on its farm-to-table Italian restaurant patio. On October 29, the Wine & Wag special includes two glasses of bubbly, an appetizer, and a dog treat. The Cabernet & Canine Package adds a $200 resort credit and a signature welcome Barkuterie board.

Negril, Jamaica

Halloween gets a Caribbean twist across Couples Resorts’ four adults-only Jamaican properties, featuring mummy-wrapping competitions, pumpkin carving, Halloween trivia, and costume contests. The two sister properties in Negril offer all the festivities with a twist. Couples Negril is hosting pirate-themed activities to enjoy and a Pirates Cabin dance party; Couples Swept Away is having a masquerade ball. Both are right on the amazingly beautiful 7 Mile Beach, where there’s so much to see and do.

Fort Lauderdale, Florida

Fort Lauderdale gets a chilling prom-night makeover at Room 901 at Hyatt Centric Las Olas, celebrating the 50th anniversary of Carrie alongside the new Prime Video series, which premiered October 7. The immersive 1970s prom features red-and-black décor, candlelight, dramatic florals, themed music, tuxedo-clad bartenders, sinister cocktails, playful prom superlatives, and Carrie’s iconic blood-covered prom dress displayed in the bathroom.

Panama City, Panama

Celebrate Halloween in Panama City with the Hyatt Regency Panama City’s Spooky Package, available October 31 to November 1. It includes a Spooky Brunch at Rulfo, a kids’ costume contest, cookie decorating, sauna and Turkish bath access, a welcome amenity, and early check-in and check-out. Throughout October, Rulfo also offers German sausages and locally brewed Casa Bruja beer for Oktoberfest. Explore historic Casco Viejo and themed nightlife nearby.

These destinations offer several reasons to go ahead and book that last-minute trip for Halloween. You can even check out booking for the rest of the fall or next year’s festivities as well.
