This year’s Halloween celebration doesn’t have to be typical candy traditions. There’s always room to get creative and surprise the trick-or-treaters or your friends with something fresh and new. Spooky and sweet practically go together so if you’re looking for next-level ideas, here are a few desserts to get your wheels turning.

Rice Crispy Ghosts

This adorable kid-friendly treat is easy to make and delicious to taste. I made these friendly rice-crispy ghosts with my then 3-year-old nephew and 5-year-old niece last year. They were a complete hit! The kids loved using the ghost cookie cutter; but my favorite part was eating the chocolate chips, which they scrutinized me for because “the chocolate chips are the eyes.”

Another great thing about this treat is that you only need a handful of ingredients: rice crispy cereal, marshmallows, semi-sweet chocolate chips, white chocolate, unsalted butter, and white sanding sugar (if you want to get fancy when decorating).

Spider Web Cinnamon Rolls

Fear of spiders has no room here, why? Because we’re eating them! Not really, but these spider web cinnamon rolls may become a recurring request in your home once you make them. If you’re not the best baker, this simple one-ingredient dish will be perfect for you. All you need is a can of cinnamon rolls, black writing gel, and plastic spiders. The best part about this dessert is that it doesn’t have to be perfect, which means you can have fun drawing on the webs. You’ve got this!

Ghost S’mores Dip

The ghosts are coming out for Halloween this year but in the best way. As if s’mores couldn’t get any sweeter, have you ever had it in “dip” form? Ghost s’mores dip is everything you didn’t know you needed. This 4-ingredient treat will leave you and your guests thrilled and fulfilled; Best of all, you can eat the dip with warmed graham crackers, apples, potato chips, pretzels, or dig in with a spoon.

Zombie Brain Cupcakes

Zombie’s brains are on the menu! Whether you’re throwing a spooky party, decorating for fun with the kids, or deciding to give trick-or-treaters something different this year, these cupcakes will surely be a hit. I was surprised to learn that I make my strawberry cupcakes the same way that these cupcakes are made, the only difference is the frosting piping of the brain and the strawberry syrup that creates the blood. Beware, you may become addicted to these delicious strawberry-based zombie brain cupcakes.

Blooming Apples

Instead of blooming onions, we’re taking a healthier route and baking blooming apples. Take your favorite apple, be it Granny Smith, Gala, Honey Crisp, or Fuji, and let’s venture into a new lane. If you have a sweet tooth like me, then say hello to your new favorite dessert. These blooming apples are not only healthy, but also low-calorie, flourless, gluten-free, vegan, and can be sugar-free. The best part of all is that the apples are still packed with flavor and the options are limitless. Blooming apples don’t give mediocre, you can get creative and make a variety pack. Try out the apple crumble made from oatmeal or a classic caramel drizzle, those are my favorites, which also happen to be 90 calories!

Feel free to tweak these recipes as you see fit to your dietary needs. Most of all have fun and be safe this Halloween! Also, if you try out a recipe leave your reviews below.
