With a line out the door and girls decked out in their heels and cute outfits at first glance, you might mistake this event for a party.

The sounds of Beyonce, 2 Chainz, and Nikki Minaj blared from the speakers as young people buzzed about the room, grabbed drinks from the bar, and snacked on cupcakes. But this wasn’t a party, it was a networking event.

Around 75 budding entrepreneurs and young professionals gathered for the first ever, From The Crown Up networking event last Tuesday for an evening of authentic connections, good music and cocktails. As the guests of honor mingled with attendees, it wasn’t hard to see that this wasn’t your typical networking event. Created for and by millennial entrepreneurs, it was a perfect combination of relationship building and fun.

Some of the events featured guests included Emmelie De La Cruz of The Branding Muse , Lauren Garcia of Sweetly Unexpected, and Rosco Spears creative director for The Lip Bar. These ladies later shared their entrepreneurial journeys and provided insightful advice to the many blossoming entrepreneurs in attendance.

Put together by two promising and passionate women, Fatouma Binta Barry (20) and Kade Henderson (19) these two women haven’t even graduated college yet and they are already using their skills and connections to create something valuable for their peers.

We look forward to more “not so ordinary” networking event from Collegiate Crown and The Prime and Proper INC.
