You may love the country you live in, or you may hate it. In truth, we don’t have a say on where we’re born or where we grow up. As a result, many of us stay in the same country for decades before we realize we can leave. Even if you have a deep love for your country, it might be in your best interest to move elsewhere. A change of scenery can be refreshing, but it can also be a way of advancing your professional career

More job opportunities

Moving to a new country can open window upon window of new opportunities. You may find more job diversity, as well as more jobs in general. Obviously, both are highly beneficial for any woman looking to advance her career.

With more job diversity, you may find that your sector is widely supported in a new country. In your current home, it might be impossible to find a job in, say, the technology industry. But, if you moved to a country where these jobs are common, it gives you more chances of being hired. The same goes for more jobs being available across the board; there are more places to fill, so the odds are in your favor!

A chance at better wages

It’s no secret that the gender pay gap is a shocking reality. Some countries fare a lot better than others. In your current situation, it might be impossible to find a decent job with good wages. You’re always underpaid, simply for being a woman. But, if you move abroad, you can find a country where the gap is a lot smaller – or non-existent. In fact, some countries have a wage gap in favor of women!!

After reading that, you’ve already started packing your bags and have booked an appointment with a solicitor for your immigration application. The prospect of living in a country where you’re paid a fair wage is so exciting. To add to this, other countries might pay better on the whole. The minimum wage in some countries can be almost double what you’re paid here!

Better work conditions and benefits

Do a bit of research on which countries offer the best employee benefits. Your mouth will fall open as you realize that many nations do things differently to your country. For example, France has a 35-hour working week, with two hours for lunch every day. This creates a much better work-life balance where people are relaxed and don’t feel like they’re working themselves to the bone.

In comparison, your current working week may have you in from 9-5 every day, with minimal breaks. It’s not good for your health to work like this, so a change of scenery can be just what the doctor ordered.

Overall, moving to a different country could be the best career decision you ever made. It’s a chance to start afresh and explore all the new opportunities this new country has to offer. If you’ve never thought about it before, perhaps this post has given you something to mull over.
