‘Repetition Is Reputation’ Aliza Licht Shares Key Insights On Personal Branding, Social Media And Her New Book ‘On Brand’
Marketer, mentor, and podcast host Aliza Licht joined #HerAgendaLive to share her tips and strategies on how to best communicate your personal brand to the world. After 17 years of working in fashion, PR, and corporate education, Aliza moved on to create her own multi-media brand and consultancy, ‘Leave Your Mark’, where she now helps businesses and professionals stand out in an ever-changing work environment and fierce competition.
In the #HerAgendaLive interview, the “On Brand” author joins marketing consultant Emmelie De La Cruz in a conversation covering everything from how to balance social media’s different platforms and key insights including the exercise of matching self-reflection with public perception, and how repetition can boost your brand.
“Waiting around for someone to notice you’re good at what you do isn’t a strategy. Everyone should think about personal branding in terms of [reflecting on whether] your self-reflection matches public perception. This is one of the first mental gymnastics exercises in the book,” she explains.
And she gives a sound perspective on how to think about promoting yourself on social media: “In the book, I bring in expert contributors on certain topics and Dorie Clark is my expert on communication. And she says it’s so well that I don’t even need to mince her words, but no one is thinking about you. Literally, no one is thinking about you. You may think you’ve told your friends what you’re doing. You posted on Instagram one time [so you think] everybody knows, nobody knows because no one’s thinking about you. So you need to do the work to re-message in new and interesting ways over and over again because repetition is reputation.”
