Figuring Out Your Finances With ‘The Budgetnista’
On April 14th, the Her Agenda INSIDERS had the pleasure of Tiffany “The Budgetnista” Aliche as their guest for their Power Hour conversation via Slack. Tiffany “The Budgetnista” Aliche is America’s favorite personal financial educator. Through her Live Richer Movement, she’s helped over one million women save, manage, and pay off millions of dollars. The INSIDER community learned how to figure out their finances from budgeting to investing, as well as managing COVID-19. She also offered suggestions on what you can do with your stimulus payment.
On the first step in making a financial shift:
“It’s going to sound cliche, but you should ALWAYS start with your budget first. It’s a physical picture of what your money is doing.”
Tiffany on budgeting:
“Honestly, the BEST way to ensure you stay on budget is to Automate! Automate! Automate! Automatically have your paycheck deposited. You can even ask HR to split it up to four ways: In your spending account, in your bills account, in short-term savings, and in your long term savings account. Then make sure you automate your bill payments too!”
Here’s a statement that resonated with many of our INSIDERS:
“The best way to protect your credit is to check your credit report regularly. Credit Karma & Credit Sesame allow you to do that for free. The best way to boost your credit is pay down debt and to stay consistent with payments. You can do this by automating your payments.”

Tiffany’s thoughts on whether women should navigate finances differently than men:
“Yup! I do think women should approach money differently. Women live longer, many have children, and we historically make less than men. Women need to save and invest more because of this.”
