HBO is taking viewers back to the world of Hannah, Marnie, Jessa and Shoshanna. Lena Dunham’s ‘Girls’ is returning as a five-episode limited series, Variety reports, with production set to begin in 2027, a decade after the Season 6 finale.

Lena will return as creator, showrunner and star. Allison Williams, Jemima Kirke, Zosia Mamet and Andrew Rannells are also coming back, and each will serve as a co-executive producer. Adam Driver and co-showrunner Jenni Konner were not named in HBO’s announcement, and no premiere date has been shared.

In the past, Lena said the group always agreed to return only “if there was a specific story we were burning to tell.” According to HBO comedy head Amy Gravitt, the new chapter shifts the focus from the chaos of one’s twenties to the milestone of turning 40.

Before you rewatch and binge the series again, let’s take a look at some of the most iconic scenes!

Favorite Moments From ‘Girls’

1. The ‘Voice Of A Generation’ Line

In the pilot, Hannah tells her parents she may be “the voice of my generation,” then softens it to “a voice. Of a generation.” The line became the show’s defining joke and followed Hannah for all six seasons.

2. ‘One Man’s Trash’

In Season two, Hannah spends a weekend inside the brownstone of a charming stranger, played by Patrick Wilson. The mostly two-person episode remains one of the most talked-about episodes of the series.

3. ‘American Bitch’

Season six puts Hannah face to face with a celebrated author accused of misconduct by young women. The episode sparked a lasting conversation about consent, which we explored in our look at how ‘Girls’ shaped that conversation for millennials.

4. The Beach House Weekend

Also in Season six, the four friends gather for a weekend that pushes long-buried tensions to the surface. It offers an honest look at how friendships shift as lives move in different directions.

5. ‘Latching’

The series finale follows Hannah into motherhood and closes the original run on a note of change. It also gives the revival a natural place to pick up, with the characters now approaching 40.
