Her Agenda CEO and New York City native Rhonesha Byng joined Good Night New York on Fox 5 News to discuss Off The Page: The Women Changing Publishing & Media, a live panel discussion in partnership with Hachette Book Group celebrating the women leading the charge in an industry that shapes much of what we read, watch, and think.

This insightful conversation about the world of publishing and media will be followed by a networking opportunity where you can engage with industry leaders and like-minded professionals at the Hachette Book Group headquarters.

“It’s important now, more than ever, to make sure that women’s voices are elevated,” Rhonesha said. “We wanted to create an experience, an event, that was a learning event whether you want to be behind the scenes in the book industry or if you want to be an author one day.”

This is the first in-person event Her Agenda has hosted since 2019 and the event has seen a huge response, with more than 1,000 RSVPs in 48 hours.

“It’s important for women to be in the decision making seats but also at the forefront with our names on the covers, writing those words,” she said.

When asked her advice for people who are considering getting into the book industry, Rhonesha quoted Eboni K. Williams, who Her Agenda spoke with in 2019 and who will be a panel member at the Sept. 25 event.

“She says, ‘Treat yourself like a business,'” Rhonesha said. “It’s not necessarily about followers, but what is the business of you and if you have a book to sell, how will you sell it? Where will you sell it? How will you showcase and prove that people are willing to buy from you?”
