Savannah James is carving out a lane of her own, with titles beyond being the wife and mother of NBA superstar LeBron James’ children. This powerhouse is an entrepreneur, philanthropist, and businesswoman.

Savannah has partnered with her longtime business partner, April McDaniel, to combine their podcast, women’s community, and creative agency as a collective. Signed is the new launch and the holding company; it will be utilized to elevate all aspects of their women-driven endeavors; this will include media connections and women-centered businesses.

According to Fast Company, Signed will act as a holding company for the creative agency Crown+Conquer (founded by McDaniel in 2016), the membership-based women’s community Let It Break (founded in 2024), and the pair’s podcast Everybody’s Crazy, which also began in 2024. The founders have hired Christopher Gray as Chief Creative Officer, bringing in his extensive experience from working at both Nike and Wieden+Kennedy London

Savannah took to her Instagram, stating that:

“For me, building has never been about doing more. It’s been about doing what matters with the right people.”

@ThisisSigned is the result of years of  intuition, trust, and ambition, and I’m excited for what we’ll build next “

Signed is in partnership with MarcyPen Capital Partners, which is a private equity and venture capital firm co-founded by Jay-Z. Its intent is to utilize the three founding companies as the foundation for future brands under the new launch of the Signed umbrella.

“Signed is coming with that responsibility, that reputation, and also the possibility of doing what you love can really work out in the end,” April told Fast Company

This launch can be an inspiration for Black millennial women seeking to build a brand and business that upholds integrity and tenacity. Seeing a company merge, elevate, and have ownership by Black women in business can motivate generations to come. There is much to be said about building a business from the ground up, as well as being able to provide opportunities.

“We bet on ourselves,” April said. “We’re building our own studio, and we’re really building the opportunity to own the narrative.”

Savannah and April’s launch of Signed allows for their footprint to be one of their own, retention of their ownership, and oversight of their brand and partnership. Women-forward businesses and focus will still remain as the businesses grow and welcome in more opportunities for creative directions.

Ultimately, the combination of the businesses under Signed leaves room to explore different avenues while staying true to its original foundation. The ladies are all about motivating, encouraging, and inspiring women to realize their power and hone in on it. Furthermore, each business challenges you to become your best self and then challenge someone you love to do the same.
