With each generation comes change and enlightenment. Holidays have become a manner of expression as the world has offered many new options and ideas. For many millennial women entrepreneurs and professionals finding non-traditional means to celebrate has become the new wave. Long gone are the same turkey and dressing dinners for Thanksgiving and Christmas, as women are finding ways to redefine the holidays.

Why Are Women Ditching Traditional Christmas Dinners?

According to AOL, over half of Millennials and Gen Z (54%) think classic holiday dishes need a modern twist, while 78% of Gen Z are ready to trade tired traditions for global-inspired feasts.

Life is fast paced, and many millennial women don’t have time to be in a kitchen all day cooking. With the help of technology, things are made a lot simpler. You can Instacart your groceries, Doordash takeout, or hire a private chef from TikTok.

What Are Women Replacing Traditional Dinners With?

Millennials love a more aesthetically pleasing dish for their social media, which often means more expensive food. Instead of turkey, women are opting for seafood boils, taco bars, catered meals, and potlucks.

According to Yahoo!life, by scaling back on dishes or going for a more laid-back meal that everyone can assist with, your guests will appreciate it, and you’ll be able to converse and enjoy the holiday as opposed to being tethered in the kitchen the entire time.

Exploring The Benefits Of Nontraditional Christmas Dinners

NY Post reports that 71% said they’ve been following the same holiday traditions for most of their lives, though 74% are open to creating new traditions. Social media is changing the landscape of holiday traditions, as 59% admit they find new traditions through the social apps they use daily.

Ultimately the nontraditional route has its benefits. Embracing a new tradition means more time with your loved ones. More bonding time in the kitchen and outside of it enjoying one another is what the holidays are all about.

If you’re skeptical about abandoning the traditions you’ve always had, you can take baby steps by slowly incorporating new items into the menu. Christmas dinners can also mean changing the view. Your family may travel to another state, go to the cabins, or decide to give back/volunteer at a local shelter for the holiday. You can make the holiday as meaningful as you want.

Creating your own traditions with your family for Christmas should be more about spending time together. If everyone joins together in the kitchen to help, the meal will be prepared quicker. If you’re looking for quick Christmas dinner alternatives, you can find them here.
