Why We Switched To CoSchedule To Automate Our Content Promotion

Between publishing new articles, keeping our social channels active, and making sure our best content doesn’t get buried after its first day online, our team needed a system that didn’t rely on someone manually copying and pasting links every time a new piece went live. That’s where CoSchedule came in, and after using it for 10 years (we signed up in September 2016!), it’s become one of the tools we genuinely couldn’t run our content calendar without.
What CoSchedule Actually Is
CoSchedule is a marketing calendar and social media automation platform built for teams that publish content regularly and need to coordinate online posts, social promotion, and campaigns in one place. What started as a simple WordPress plugin has grown into a full marketing suite, but at its core, it still solves the same problem: giving you one calendar where you can see every piece of content, every scheduled social post, and every campaign, instead of managing each of those in separate tools or spreadsheets.

How It Works
Once an article is added to the calendar, we can build out a full social promotion plan around it directly inside CoSchedule, choosing which platforms to post to, writing out captions, and either scheduling exact publish times or letting CoSchedule pick the best time based on when our audience is most active. From there, the platform handles the actual posting, so nothing sits waiting for someone to remember to hit publish on Instagram or Threads later that day.
The feature that’s made the biggest difference for us is ReQueue. Instead of an article getting one push on social the day it publishes and then disappearing, ReQueue automatically resurfaces our best-performing older posts and slots them into open spots in our social calendar. Practically, that means content we published weeks or even months ago keeps showing back up in front of readers without anyone on our team having to manually reshare it, which has meaningfully extended the shelf life of our older articles.
CoSchedule also includes Headline Studio for testing and optimizing titles before publishing, social templates that speed up how quickly we can build out a week’s worth of captions, and Mia, CoSchedule’s built-in AI assistant, which we’ve used for quick first drafts of social copy when we’re moving through a high volume of posts.

How We Actually Use It
Day to day, our workflow is simple: an article gets added to the calendar as soon as it’s ready to publish; we build out its social promotion plan for the first week; add it to a ReQueue group so it keeps resurfacing afterward; and then move on to the next piece. What used to require manually posting to multiple platforms throughout the day now runs largely on its own, which has freed up real time for us to focus on writing and strategy instead of the repetitive task of promotion.
If you’re a content team weighing whether it’s worth adding another tool to your stack, our experience has been that CoSchedule earns its place specifically because of how much manual work it removes from the promotion side of publishing.
