The Spring Smart Phone Detox You Need To Try

The Spring Smart Phone Detox You Need To TryBy The Single Wives Club

Who needs a smartphone detox?  **Raises Hand**

Over the past 10 years, smartphones have slowly taken over our lives. We have endless information right at our fingertips. Our real life interactions are disappearing and are stuck in our apps, group messages, and emails. According to the Huffington Post, 84% of people admitted to not be able to go a day without their phones.

Although it’s hard to imagine life before text messages and social media, there are some great benefits to “unplugging” from our devices such as:

– Your attention span can improve

– You can knock out your to-do list faster.

– Stress levels go down.

– Connections with family and friends can improve.

I have been on a personal journey to be more present among family, friends, and real life events. The positives above definitely encourage me even more.

Are you ready to dive into the smartphone detox?

These seven daily tasks will jump start you into becoming more aware of your technology intake. Of course, you can start any day of the week, but this schedule is ideal for a Monday Start.

Day 1

Plan to have a meal with family and/or friends without your phone. Encourage everyone at the table to do the same. You will be surprised how easy it is when all are involved.

Day 2

Unsubscribe to any unwanted email listings. I have used to help clear out all subscriptions at one time.

Day 3

Turn off your notifications and do not log in for the day. You can take it a step further and delete these apps from your phone.

Day 4

Put your text messages on “do not disturb” for the day. If you do not have this feature on your device, you will have to use a little extra willpower.

Day 5

Some of us are guilty of sleeping with our phones. According to, “80% of people ages 18-24 sleep with their phones right beside them.”

When you go to bed leave your phone in another room, such as the bathroom. If you use your phone as an alarm just put it close enough outside the room so you can hear it. This will also help you get out of bed in the morning faster.

Day 6

When you get up in the morning check your emails and do not check them again until that evening. I reserved this for a Saturday task to make things a little easier.

Day 7

Spend the day doing a family activity. Try to aim for at least 2 hours of no phone time.

So there you have it! The seven day smartphone detox. I hope these tasks encourage you to be more present. While our devices are great, they can sometimes get in the way of what is truly important. Do all things in moderation and you will be just fine.
