As we count down until the official summer days, there is no better time than to take yourself on a solo date.

So if you have been thinking about spending more time by yourself and discovering new hobbies or activities, read below on five solo date ideas you can implement this summer.

Weekend Trip

A great way to recharge and spend time with yourself is to plan a solo weekend trip. Since it’s just for the weekend, it can also be cost-effective, as you will only be spending two to three days there. A popular way to do a weekend trip that has gone viral is an “out and back” trip. It’s when travelers travel to a new city in just one day, often starting their travels early in the day, spending a full day there, and returning home late the same day or early the nex day. Some people have even traveled overseas.

Whether you want to visit a new city, check out a historical sight, attend a concert in another town, or go back to visit a place that you love. A solo weekend trip can be a great way to spend time with yourself, try an activity there, and make new friends.

You can drive and take a road trip, book an Amtrak train ride, or find a flight deal to explore a new town or city. You should try to book a bed and breakfast to get the authentic feel of being a weekender in a new city.

Museum And Art Gallery

Exploring a museum or art gallery is a great way to learn something new and immerse yourself in new art or education. Some museums and art galleries will have limited or special shows so you might stumble upon a new artist or have the chance to attend a limited-time event. You can research your local museums or art galleries, you can also take advantage of virtual muesums showings.

Find out if they have new showings, tours, or events, and make it a date with yourself. Go to dinner first and then check out the museum or gallery. Make yourself feel special day and go the extra mile and buy yourself flowers and blast your favorite music on the way there.

Support Small Business

May is National Small Business Month, but every month is always a great time to support a small local business.

Check out a local boutique, restaurants, take a class, visit a farmers market, or a local coffee shop or bookstore. You can see if there will be a silent reading at the bookstore or pop-up events at the coffee shop. Some small businesses offer points for each dollar you spend, and it could be a great way to earn points for future purchases as well.

This is also a great way to explore and learn more about your community, meet new people who live nearby and find a new “third space.”

Movie Or TV Show Night

Watch your favorite childhood or teenage years movies or TV shows. Have a nostalgic night where you deep dive into shows and movies that you loved the most when you were younger.

Whether it’s movies that celebrate female friendships or movies that celebrate Black women, this can be a great way to rest and relax while revisiting old memories with yourself. You can also go to your local movie theater and spend the day movie hopping, and catch a couple of new movies that you’ve been wanting to check out. You may find a show or movie you like.

Have An “Everything Day”

This is what I like to call my “everything that brings me joy day.” Start by listing out two to three activities that you have been putting off that make you feel better. Order or make your favorite coffee or tea, get your nails done, book a hair appointment, go on a shopping spree, or have a picnic in the park.

Use this as an opportunity to reset for the week or month ahead and have a day focused solely on what brings you joy. Use this time to think about what you are grateful for, and you can use this as a time to reflect on what you love about yourself.
