Four Alternative Ways To Spend Valentine’s Day As A Single Person

As we all know Valentine’s Day is the day for love, but it isn’t specific to one particular type of love. Love can be celebrated with friends, family, a romantic partner, or yourself.
Her Agenda has spoken with a few ladies who will give you some alternative ways to get the most love out of this special day.
Enjoy A Day Of Self-Love
Often said to be the best love, self-love on Valentine’s Day could be your best decision: acknowledging and treating yourself to things that make you happy is the best way to not only get to know yourself but also set the standard for what you deserve.
“I’m planning on celebrating by doing some reflecting and journaling,” said Angel Butler, a 24-year-old substitute teacher. “I’ll also be treating myself to some takeout from one of my favorite restaurants and buying myself some flowers.”

Gather The Gals And Galentine The Day Away
There’s nothing like hanging with your favorite girls. Grab your favorite friends and make a day or night of fun times. These will be memories to cherish later in life so make it eventful. You can go all out and dress up and go to a restaurant, and stay at home and cook, have cocktails, and do karaoke. There are no limits when the gals are involved for Galentines Day shenanigans.
“My roommates and I plan on having the team over for Bible study and some fun lighthearted games before our home opener that starts on Valentine’s Day,” said Kyla Maxwell a 19 year old college athlete.
Spread Love Through A Kind Gesture
If you are looking to do something fulfilling and purposeful, giving back or doing a kind gesture on Valentine’s Day is a great alternative. Some cool ways to do that is by calling an elderly family member, holding the door for someone, or paying it forward to someone in line behind you. The smallest thing can make an immense difference in someone’s day.
“I like to think I have a really big heart so I will be going to get burgers from McDonald’s and passing them out to the homeless,” said Kyanna Wimbish, a 22-year-old security officer. “I think gratitude is important, especially when you have the means to give, so I want to spread love and give back for Valentine’s Day for those that don’t necessarily feel loved always.”

Pamper Yourself With A Relaxing Spa Day
“My job requires me to stand on my feet for large periods of time so I chose a spa day [for a Valentine’s Day alternative] because it’s relaxing and there’s nothing better in the world than peace and quiet, the true key to my heart,” said Samiyah Williams, a 22-year-old, professional hair stylist. “At my spa day, I want to do a foot massage, an hour deep tissue, followed by a nice soak in the jacuzzi.”
There’s nothing like a good massage. Valentine’s Day can be a brutal beatdown if you’re single, but you don’t have to let it. Channel that energy into positivity and pamper yourself. Make the day about you and indulge in a relaxing spa day, and afterward treat yourself to a nice meal. Let the V in Valentine’s stand for vibrant.
