Following a challenging year for many of us, the light at the end of the tunnel is becoming clearer and more apparent than ever. For most people, working from home has become the norm and is sure to be something that will continue as we trundle throughout the rest of the year and beyond.

While approximately 57% of office workers expressing that they would like to continue working from home in the future, there is no doubt that this will be a consideration for many as we begin to emerge from lockdown.

However, with this in mind, some people are reading this, who are eager and itching to get back to the office as soon as possible. If you are one of those people, you may be thinking about what you need to do to prepare yourself for the transition from complete home working to being back in the office.

When finding yourself in this position, you have ended up in the right place at the right time! Compiled below are some of the things that you should remember when heading back to the office following lockdown restrictions being lifted.

Whether you intend to flexibly work in both the home and the office or are opting for a total return to your usual workspace, we are confident there is something of use here.

Communication Is Key

While this is something that we are confident would have been happening frequently both before and during the subsequent lockdowns, this is a crucial element that should be remembered as we emerge from lockdown.

Naturally, it will be an adjustment for everyone and will be a somewhat emotionally charged period for a lot of people. Ensuring that you are communicating with all parties involved and that you are respectful of other people during this time – for example, if they wish to still keep some distance between themselves and others – then you are sure to go through the transition process with as minimal disruption as possible.

Communicating any issues or resolves that you may have with those who are either directly or indirectly affected is also essential. By airing any grievances that you might have, as soon as they develop, you can rest assured that the air will be clear when you get back into the office entirely.

Equipment And Other Items Of Importance

This is for those who moved their office setup into their homes following the first whispers of lockdown! Naturally, if this particular situation applies to you, then you would need to make necessary arrangements to get your equipment back in the office in time for you to be able to pick up where you left off.

Concerning equipment and items of importance, this does not just apply to those things that are directly linked with the work that you might do. On the other hand, this can include items of importance that you might have on your desk or anything else you might use throughout the working day.

If you are someone who uses a vape pen or who is giving up cigarettes, then an item of importance here could be ensuring that you have what you need to get you through the workday and help ease any nicotine urges that you might have.

Ensuring that you have UK made e-liquid and a vape pen to hand will make sure that you can concentrate on your work as best as possible. Provided by the likes of Aquavape and other companies, you are truly spoilt for choice.

Another suggestion we are confident has been implemented in the home throughout the last year and something that is worth remembering when heading back to the office. Mainly if you have begun taking short walks away from your desk during your lunch breaks, nothing is stopping you from continuing this habit when you head back to the office.

What’s more, ensuring that you take breaks to get yourself a drink or get some fresh air is also essential; looking after your body while going through a potentially stressful period will minimize the risk of becoming overworked and overwhelmed.

What’s more, keeping up a routine or schedule that you have been keeping to throughout your time of working from home could well make the transition back to the office that little bit easier; it would merely be the same routine, but in a different setting, while also factoring in a commute where applicable.

While these are but some of the many things to remember when heading back to the office, we hope it has given you some sort of idea as to what line of inquiry you should be going down. Going forward with confidence and an open mind will make the transition as seamless as possible that we can be sure of.
