For many of us, we can feel like failures from time to time. We tend to put this crazy amount of pressure on ourselves and although we have a successful career we can sometimes feel that we are not worthy of being praised. It’s a normal feeling. But just because you’re not living in a big mansion in Beverly Hills and driving a fancy car, that doesn’t mean that you are not a success.

Oftentimes we can feel that we have failed regardless of our accomplishments and this kind of mindset could result in the feeling depressed. In this day and age, it’s becoming more and more important for people to realise their worth and to be proud of the accomplishments they’ve achieved.

Because we know how difficult it can be to give yourself a little pep talk, we’ve come up with 7 easy tips on how to change the way you view yourself and the success you achieve:

1. Know What Your Goals and Desires are:

Life is short, so it’s important to know what you want to get out of it! Write down a list of things you would like to accomplish in your life. Once you know what you want, start planning how you’re going to achieve those goals. If AND when you achieve these goals, check them off the list. This allows for you to have a mental acknowledgment of the success you’ve just achieved.

2. Don’t Compare Yourself to Others:

With social media becoming a main source of communication and attention, it’s so easy to compare your likes and followers to the next person. This will result in putting a giant amount of pressure on ourselves. Instead, focus on how you can best strive for perfection in your own life instead of worrying about other people. For instance, you are going against some very good sales people in your office. Rather than preoccupying yourself with the performance of your competition, focus on your performance.

3. Focus on the Good Things in Your Life:

Sometimes, our negative thoughts will get the best of us when we fail or succeed. Remember that list of goals we made for ourselves back in tip 1? Refer back to that list and reflect on how far you’ve come and what you’ve done. Reliving small moments like this can remind us of the positive work we are capable of.

4. Don’t Rely on Your Negative Thoughts:

When people are depressed they rely on their fearful, depressing, and negative thoughts. That is a huge mistake. Your fearful thoughts are exaggerated and are not based on reality. When you are depressed, focus on the facts of your current situation and not on what you think.

5.You Can’t Win All the Time:

A person must realize that they can’t succeed all of the time. There will be times that things will not go in your favor. If this happens, it’s healthy to accept the fact that sometimes, it’s necessary to take a step back before being able to move forward. Even the most successful people will experience some rejection.

6. Learn How to Overcome Failure:

When getting turned down, the key is to learn from your mistakes and to give it another try. Doing anything in life requires practice and persistence. Remember the time you first learned to ride a bike? If you’re like most of us, you kept falling off the bike. With some practice and some time, you were able to ride your bike with no problem. Everything we do is a learning experience so do not get discouraged if you don’t make it on the first – or even the second time.

7. Talk to A Counselor:

Unfortunately, there could be a chance that you’re suffering from depression. If possible, talk to a professional who can help you manage your mental health issues. They will be able to provide you with additional advice and insight on how to deal with your current situation. By talking to a professional, you help yourself in the long run because it will set you up to better deal with potential issues in the future.
