Stay Fit, Stay Active, Stay Stylish: Adidas Launches New Maternity Activewear Line

On December 4, Adidas launched a brand-new line of activewear, aimed at pregnant women. The longtime fitness and activewear brand is no stranger to leading the way in fitness technology and comfort, so launching this new specially tailored line doesn’t come as a surprise to fitness enthusiasts.

Designers for the Adidas line created a distinct collection of activewear tops and tights with the help of women in different trimesters. The intent was to ensure the pieces stretch and flow with women as their bellies grow and change throughout pregnancy. The designers also intentionally created this collection to be worn postpartum, giving the most comfortable and beneficial attire for the body’s adjustment to post-baby shape.

The line uses high-stretch and lightweight fabric around the belly and chest for support, comfort, and the necessary give. The signature Aeroready moisture management from Adidas is also incorporated to help wearers maintain a cool, dry feeling throughout any activity. The materials used are made from their “primegreen” high-performance fabrics made of recycled materials.

General manager of Adidas Global Training, Aimee Arana, said that Adidas, “understand[s] that movement can have profoundly positive effects on our personal wellbeing and truly believe that sport is for everyone, with this collection marking another step in making our offering as inclusive as possible.”

She added, “With the body experiencing daily change throughout the journey of motherhood, it was paramount we worked closely with a community of expecting women to understand exactly what they need from their activewear, through each trimester and postpartum. The insights we gained were invaluable and led to a collection of essential pieces with support and comfort at the forefront. Made with our signature performance fabrics, each garment has been designed to work flawlessly through every move, from Pilates to strength training and dance.”

The collection includes the Aeroready Designed 2 Move Sport Tank Top, which comes in three colors, the Essentials Cotton T-Shirt, available in three colors, 7/8 Sports Tights in two colors, and the Essentials Cotton Leggings, available in two colors.

The tank top uses high-stretch fabric to hug the body, without squeezing it, and features an A-line cut with a longer front to ensure full coverage over the belly as it expands. It’s available in Hazy Rose, Black, and Crew Navy.

The t-shirt comes in white, black, or Navy Crew. It’s designed with extra length like the tank top, and side seam ruching, to allow your belly to grow without having to change your wardrobe.

The leggings come in Crew Navy or Black and feature a fold-over waistband and lightweight fabric to reduce pressure on the belly.

The tights come in black or gray and offer the same fold-over waistband that allows you to adjust as needed without adding undue pressure to your belly.

This first drop will be followed by additional pieces next season.
