Summer Energy Forecast: The Big Five Happening In Astrology

Greetings, beautiful ones!
It’s time for another monthly energy forecast. I find myself at a loss for words sometimes — I am so deeply grateful for this community of women and powerful readers.
Thank you for reading, for tuning in, and giving yourself the advantage of getting a better pulse on this season’s Astrology & energetics.
Things are changing rapidly out there in the big, wide world — I’m sure you can feel it. Timelines are less constant than ever before — the plan we’d made a week ago seems to have collapsed to ashes within 48 hours. The map is in French one week, and Finnish the next. The road ahead occasionally looks more like an ocean ripple than a road.
For some of us, that is where the medicine lies. Getting to know a particular creek, a particular patch of forest, a particular riverbed. Walking a beach so many times over the course of many seasons that each grain of sand itself becomes familiar. Having a routine. Family life. Stability.

For many of us adventurous souls, however, movement is inevitable. Detachment is the name of the game in this life: detachment from what we thought our futures would look like, detachment from a ‘normal’ looking life from the outside (maybe it’s not your location that changes frequently, but your job; your hobbies; the way you express yourself). Detaching, ultimately, from the illusion that we get to hold onto anything for longer than a brief period of time.
Nothing lasts forever, says the old cliché.
It’s so painfully cliché, and yet, it only feels true at certain moments of our lives when the impermanence of our experience makes itself known.
Someone we’ve gotten to know moves away; we lose a pet we love. Our jobs may change, or the lives of the people we care about shift in some indescribable but permanent way. Perhaps we find ourselves, despite all odds, again on the move.
July’s energy has a bit of that feeling: the despite-all-odds energy.
Confused?
.. Me too. Below is the astrological take on what’s happening, but stay tuned for the energy forecast on my YouTube channel, as well.

ASTROLOGY
Alrighty dighty: Let’s get these big-time astrological transits off our plate. There are five major transits happening in July, all affecting each other and how we interact with the world around us. They are as follows:
SUN IN CANCER:
Until July 22nd, we’re in the watery sign of ever-emotional and often-guarded Cancerian territory. This time of year always feels ironic to me — heat of summer for a sign that lives underwater, in a shell that keeps its incredibly mushy and squishy body safe behind an exoskeleton that can seriously ouchie a finger or toe. Wouldn’t summer’s heat feel suffocating to those Cancerian waters? And how do they survive feeling this much?? My respect goes out to those who live with Cancer in any primary part of their chart (sun, moon & rising especially) — The feels during cancer season run deeeeep.
The Salve: Get out your journal, get into nature, and pour your damn heart out. Cry into the arms of someone who loves you. Watch The Notebook on repeat. This time of year is truly about getting everything up and out in the open — no stones on the emotional playing field left unturned.

If feeling super deeply wasn’t enough (I feel like the Piscean babes really thrive during this time of year — Cancer is their warm parallel universe), we’ve also got Cancer in a second transit that’s a little more crunchy:
MERCURY RX IN CANCER:
A Mercury RX in the same sign as the current solar transit is essentially a recipe for mixed feelings — or feeling a lot of things at once. Because there’s a bit of a vibe-blend going on with the deep emotions of Cancer, Mercury’s pull-back effect of its retrograde, and the other transits happening that are all thrown in the mix, this is “I’m feeling everything at once and don’t know how to name any of it” territory.
The Salve: sounds trite, but stop trying to figure things out. Believe me. As a big-time planner and someone who loves to *know* how things are going to pan out (or at least the general direction I’m headed in), this type of ‘stay-super-present-day-to-day’ energy has me thrown for a loop.
For example, just today alone, I:
- Woke up cranky because I had to rise early to follow through on a commitment I was regretting promising my attendance to
- Experienced a complete 180, a flood of gratitude, and was reminded of why I make such commitments in the first place
- Exhausted myself both from laughing and socializing during that commitment (both things I haven’t done enough of in a long time)
- Discussed big-picture changes and events within the way women are rising up within the patriarchy to create a better world during said socializing time — with a myriad of women I’d never met before
- Came home and thought I was going to immediately head out on a run — but instead showered and then cried, hard, about the overwhelming feelings of “it all” and how beautiful life was to be feeling like I’m living my dreams; but also the gravity of what that means (i.e., deeply missing my cats and other random but deeply emotional aspects of the East Coast).
…Was part of this due to Luteal phase hormones?
…highly likely.
The rest, though?
For sure a great example of the astrology playing out in real time.

Having a Sun and Mercury RX in the same sign asks us to be extra gentle with ourselves when that sign’s shadow finds itself making an appearance in daily life. Cancerians can be sharp, withdrawn, and bitter when overwhelmed. Watch your cup to ensure you’re filling it all the way to the top before you deplete yourself giving it away to others. Bitter generosity doesn’t hit the same way. Saying things like “make sure you’re getting enough rest” feels almost ridiculous to say during all these transits, but instead I’d like to ask you this: Where, during your day, can you create space for your real feelings to surface and exist? Is it through playing music, or drawing? Watching a cute cartoon or reading in bed? Carve out some space to feel. You don’t need to win an award for being the best at resting in high summer, but you do need to make sure those feelings are getting felt.
If you’re craving some outside clarity on top of that — that’s what readings are for right now. They’re currently open for bookings. (Click on the open!!)
VENUS IN LEO — VENUS IN VIRGO:
The next transit we have that’s adding more mush to the emotion train is Venus in Leo, which sticks around until July 9th when it moves into Venus in Virgo.
Venus in Leo is how you imagine your class queen on Valentine’s Day: Outward proclamations, strong vibes, heart-eyed emojis at the end of every text. This energy bodes well for Cancer season — we could all use a little more confidence in the realm of expressing how we love. After July 9th, however, Venus moves into Virgo — which, according to popular astrology, will describe Venus as being “in its fall” in Virgo. This, to me, is kind of crap.

Yes, Venus isn’t in the sign of its exaltation (Pisces), but a Virgonian Venus during the emotional ride of Cancer season really just pins our hearts and souls down with a little bit of grounding and details. It’s like — if Venus in Leo is the camping trip where we forget the world exists, only pack half the things we need because we’re high on life and love and sunshine, Venus in Virgo is the early-morning routine we’ve been needing but haven’t been able to put the time in to create. It’s the steadiness, the detail-focused, and the visionary part of love that knows there needs to be some structure in order for longevity to occur. Don’t let the emotional ball of yarn during this month confuse you, though — it may seem like the whole world (and the details of your life) are in a general fog, but the only thing that’s required of you right now is to take one step and then the next. Easier said than done (especially for HSPs and people who feel like they’re plugged into the big picture), but think of this time as a reminder-practice of what it’s like to play human.
Wake up, set the intention, live the day, do the thing.
One piece at a time.
JUPITER IN LEO:
Jupiter enters Leo in July, where it will stay for 13 months. Our planet of expansion, Jupiter in Leo, gives a little oomph to the cause, the process, or the particular goal you’re working towards by essentially giving us a little more room to play. This feeling of expansion is a sign that loves attention, creativity, and self-expression; during the year of the fire horse, it provides us with that little extra runway we may be needing in order to get that thing you’ve been trying to do forever off the ground.
For some of you, this might be more related to your personal realms — a makeover of sorts, a desire to connect more with your individual expression, fashion sense, or style of self-care. For some, it might be work-related. Relationship-related. Goals-in-general related.
Take a bit of a zoomed-out look at your life and see if you can pinpoint an area that feels like it could use a bit of a boost — then lean into that idea of zooming over one of those power-up mushrooms in Mario Kart as we roll into the latter half of July.
The Salve? Refine that list of what you want. Jupiter in Leo asks us to go big and then go a little bit bigger. Lean into the thoughts of what could be possible instead of what’s currently possible right in front of you. This is no time for small wishes, kid.

MARS IN GEMINI:
And of course, last but not least, the final major transit we’re rolling through this month is Fiery Mars in Airy Gemini. Mars is our planet of action — the planet that wants us to get off our butts, make the call, book the ticket, light that thing on fire.
Mars in Gemini, however, brings… a bit of a blend to the scene. Gemini loves a double-sided coin; a flipped perspective served with a side of devil’s advocate. For some of you, this could mean making a myriad of things work out for you: it may feel like the plan is that there is no plan and somehow that’s working out just fine.
For others, it may feel like you have a million things in your head, multiple inspirations, and no idea where to take them. If you’re anything like me, maybe you’re experiencing both. All of it. Mars stays in Gemini until mid-August, when it enters homey, grounding, and softie-land Cancer.
The Salve? Do anything but listen to your mind. And if you can, get wayyyy into the body. Go swimming, walk, dance, run, whatever you need to get some wiggles out. Maybe that just looks like wiggling. With all of this astrology going on during these summer months (if you’re in the Northern hemisphere), the heat of the land plus the astrological mixed bag is going to leave a lot of us spun out and looking for a way to center ourselves.
Do not, under any circumstance, try to seek answers. Tricky? Yup.

Let things unfold. Let things surface. And above all, see if you can make uncertainty the practice for the next month.
This is going to be a stretching practice for many of us. Not easy, not comfortable… but really, really worth it. Kind of like waiting till December 25th to dive into the presents you found wrapped in the closet in November.
Things get clearer into August. For now, however, she who rides the waves with her heart set on learning and fun will glean the deepest lessons from this wild cornucopia of emotion and transits.
(For me, that means making no solid plans about what to do and when — despite my desire to know all, plan all, and have everything be… concrete).
