In 2025, women entrepreneurs continue to encounter significant challenges. Despite these obstacles, many have developed effective strategies to overcome barriers and achieve success.

Explore the key challenges women entrepreneurs face and gain practical solutions.

1. Limited Access To Funding

Access to capital remains one of the biggest barriers for women entrepreneurs. To navigate this, many women are looking beyond traditional venture capital. Crowdfunding, angel investors and women-focused grant programs offer alternative capital-raising methods.

Networking with other women entrepreneurs and joining pitch-prep programs can also improve access and confidence when presenting to investors. The funding gap might also lead to challenges like ensuring their business is legally sound or registering their business under the correct structure, like a sole proprietorship, limited liability corporation (LLC) or benefit corporation.

2. Navigating Gender Bias

Even in 2025, gender bias continues to affect how women entrepreneurs are perceived and treated. From assumptions about leadership ability to how ideas are credited in meetings, these subtle — and sometimes not-so-subtle — biases can make running a business feel like swimming upstream.

Women may face scrutiny about being “too assertive” or “not assertive enough,” creating a frustrating double standard. There are also other challenges, like navigating menopause while in business and facing a lack of accommodations in this area. These challenges can impact confidence, visibility and opportunities, especially in male-dominated industries.

Some women are investing in confidence-building tools, like public speaking coaching or executive presence workshops, to counteract this. Others are turning to mentorship circles and women-led business groups for honest advice and support.

3. Balancing Work And Personal Life

One of the most persistent challenges women entrepreneurs face in 2025 is balancing their business responsibilities and personal lives. The pressure to excel in both areas often leads to burnout, as women tend to shoulder a disproportionate amount of household and caregiving duties in addition to running their businesses.

To tackle this, time-blocking and setting firm boundaries have become vital strategies. Women are finding success by delegating household tasks when possible, outsourcing work responsibilities and scheduling specific “off hours” to recharge.

Women who work from home often find separating work from their personal lives more challenging. They can benefit from creating strong boundaries to more effectively switch in and out of work mode.

4. Building A Supportive Network

For entrepreneurs, building a strong network is crucial for success, yet doing so can be one of the toughest challenges for women in male-dominated industries. These sectors often have established connections that can be hard to break into, leaving women without the same access to partnerships, mentorship or funding opportunities.

However, many women are tackling this hurdle by creating their own networks, like joining women-only business groups, attending woman-focused conferences and using social media to connect to other entrepreneurs. Platforms like LinkedIn and Facebook enable women to form virtual communities to share experiences, advice and support.

Women are also increasingly turning to mentorship programs and incubators specifically designed for entrepreneurs, where they can receive tailored guidance and find like-minded individuals who understand their unique challenges.

She Means Business

The challenges women entrepreneurs face in 2025 are undeniable, but so are the strategies they’re using to overcome them. By seeking out alternative funding, navigating bias with confidence, setting healthy boundaries and building supportive networks, women are thriving. The future of entrepreneurship is women, and those leading the charge are proving that no barrier is too big to break.
