It’s that time of year when we all get hyped about crushing our goals and leveling up. But let’s be real: The road from goal-setting to goal-achievement is often riddled with potholes.

Here are a few ways you can set those 2024 goals and actually make them happen this year.

1. First, reflect on the past year.

Before you dive head-first into 2024 and all its potential, hit the pause button and take a minute to reflect on the phenomenon that was 2023.

~ What were your wins?

~ Where did you stumble?

~ What perspectives changed?

~ Who were your supporters (and who was not)?

Learning from the past sets the stage for epic wins in the new year.

2. Get specific and then, take action.

No more wishy-washy resolutions like “get in shape” or “stack that paper.” You have to get laser-focused on these goals. Think “HIIT workouts five times a week” or “learn stock options trading.” “Vague objectives can lead to confusion and hinder progress.” Specific goals are like a GPS for your success – with clear direction, there’s no chance of getting lost on this grind.

3. Break down larger goals into smaller tasks.

Big goals can feel like climbing Mount Everest. Don’t be afraid to set them but breaking them down into bite-sized tasks makes them more digestible and less intimidating. Each win – no matter how small – gets you closer to the summit. It’s not about conquering the mountain, it’s about embracing the climb.

4. Lean into you support system or find a new one.

Even if you’re a solopreneur, you’re not alone. Sharing your dreams with a hype squad of friends, family, and mentors can open you up to new ideas, suggestions, and opportunities to learn. Plus, they’ll keep you in check and boost your vibes when the hustle gets hard and you really feel like you’re on an island.

5. Document what’s working—and what’s not.

Regularly flex those check-in muscles. What’s working? What’s not? Then make some adjustments and recheck in Q2. Just because something didn’t work doesn’t mean it’s a failure – it’s also valuable feedback.

6. Celebrate the small wins.

Don’t save the champagne for the big wins. Break out the “good glasses” and celebrate those small victories too! They’re the breadcrumbs leading to your success and each one gets you a step closer to the big goals. Cheers to the grind! *clink*
