Madam Vice President Kamala Harris Inspires A Women-Owned Lipstick Collection Called ‘I’m Speaking’

During the October 2020 debate between now Vice President Kamala Harris and then Vice President Mike Pence, feminists everywhere couldn’t believe their ears as Pence interrupted Harris during her response. In return, this woman who’s changing things for women everywhere, said, “I’m speaking.”

She’s been heard.

The equality-conscious cosmetics brand, SheSpoke was birthed on the film set of the popular television show “Law and Order: SVU” when co-founders Rebecca Perkins and Stephanie March met. Perkins was head of the makeup department while March played ADA Alexandra Cabot on the show. The long hours they spent together led the pair to “recreate” their relationship for a larger audience as SheSpoke. Now-CEO, Kelsey Groome, joined the team in 2020.

The team at SheSpoke has found deep inspiration in the work done by women in politics.

The collection, called “I’m Speaking,” focuses on trailblazers Vice President Kamala Harris, late Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg and former state representative and voting rights activist Stacey Abrams. Each lipstick is named with the first name of these women. The limited collection also comes with a “high-shine sparkly clear topper” representing the glass ceiling these women have broken through.

You can purchase the lipstick as a collection or separately. “Kamala” is a sheer neutral with a shiny finish, inspired by the warm color that she wore as her go-to while campaigning. “Ruth” is a pink-coral shade with solid pigment for the audacity and boldness of RBG. “Stacey” is a bold plum-red tone for “making your voice heard” as Abrams has so successfully done throughout her career.
