Support Your Girlfriends Retreat In Barbados Builds Bonds Among Ambitious Power Women
It’s always a powerful thing when you have the perfect mix of women, sisterhood, and respect. When ambitious leading women professionals and entrepreneurs connect, the stars align, burn together, and shine brighter. It creates a limitless supply of love and support.
The Support Your Girlfriends retreat was an experience embodying all those things. Hosted annually by marketing and public relations powerhouse and founder of Tene Nicole Creative Agency, Nikkia McClain, this year’s retreat was held in sunny Barbados, and it was pure magic! With 35 women gathered for sun, sisterhood, and learning, every moment was unforgettable.
Sistership is the lifeblood of our community. It’s a sacred bond that nurtures us mentally, financially, emotionally, and spiritually. In sistership, we find strength in shared experiences and solace in each other’s support. It fosters growth, uplifts us in times of need, and celebrates our victories.
Support Your Girlfriends is more than just a friendship network; it’s a commitment to lift each other up, to see the best in one another, and to walk hand-in-hand through life’s journey. This retreat was a testament to the power and beauty of sistership, and the incredible impact it has on our lives.
The Itinerary: Connection, Friendship, And Service
Day 1: A Magical Retreat Welcome
We kicked off with a welcome dinner, reconnecting with alumni sisters and meeting new faces poolside in black swimsuits and cover-ups and the ladies came through giving black woman magic.
Day 2: Restoration And Learning
We began with a meditation session led by Vanessa Moore. Crystal Etienne of Ruby Love hosted the “Give Me Money” Power Her Breakfast, where we all learned the pros and cons in raising capital. We even had a hands-on crash course in on-the-spot business pitching, followed by “Don’t Let Your Money Cave You In” at Harrison’s Cave, a session hosted by financial expert Sherkera Green.
We gave back with the “I Am A Girl” community event, donating $10,000 to a local organization. During our commute there, the bus ride was full of fun. The karaoke vibes were entertaining, turning into a full-on Chris Brown concert, dance moves and all. (We discovered a few hidden talents!).
I closed out “The Big Ask” dinner, using my renowned empowerment speaking and activation skills as founder of Activate Worldwide. The talk was focused on productivity, goal setting, and a closing love circle for gratitude and prayer.
Day 3: Culture And Legacy
We enjoyed a scenic tour of Barbados and stopped in Rihanna’s hometown before grabbing some roadside breakfast with breadfruit and a few rum punches. We indulged in the anticipated yacht experience, hosted by Barbados Tourism, wearing our pink swimsuits and unifying for Instagram and TikTok dances.
We ended with the “Powering Your Legacy” dinner hosted by Shay Wood of Wood Enterprises, where we learned about legacy and preparing our family for the future.
Day 4: Closing Out With Motivation
After all that dancing on the yacht followed up by late night conversations in Nikkia’s suite, the “rich aunties” were slow rolling in the morning. We gathered by the beach after a few snooze alarm alerts to enjoy the “Power Your Purpose Beach Day” with Natasha “Talk to Tash” Leath. We were instantly invigorated.
We sported our white banded swimsuits–chic swimwear sponsored by Talk with Tash—sipped signature Talk with Tash drinks. We also had took group photos and videos with a drone to commemorate the moment.
The “Pool Pit,” led by Charreah Jackson of Shine Army reinforced celebrating ourselves and our sisters. We concluded with “Redefining Sistership with Great Girlfriends, hosted by Sybil Amuti. We looked flawless at dinner in our metallic chic attire and the evening’s message hit home for all of us to understand the true essence of sisterhood and what it means to be a great girlfriend.
